“Winterscapes” – Intuitive Painting & Collage Workshop
February 24, 2024
The Alton Mill Arts Centre
Intuitively explore the winter landscape through texture and paint
DATE: Saturday, February 24, 2024 (NOTE: this workshop was previously scheduled for February 3 and was moved to a new date due to illness)
TIME: 10:00 to 1:30 pm (3.5 hours)
LOCATION: In-person @ Studio #206 on the upper level of The Alton Mill Arts Centre
FEE: $150 + HST per person
In this workshop you can enjoy the warmth and coziness of my studio while creatively exploring February’s beauty, without the need for boots and mittens!
Using the winter landscape as our inspiration, we will start by creating wonderfully dreamy effects with watercolour on paper, then begin tearing, cutting and exchanging these creations as we layer them up on canvas to discover a whole new “view” of nature’s coldest month of the year. To top things off, we will use spray inks, acrylic paints applied with a palette knife, plus a few other fun techniques to add more layers of texture and interest.
Through alternating and manipulating strips of watercolour with torn fragments from magazines and other printed materials, this process allows you to physically play with, experiment and “rearrange things” to create a completely new scene, straight out of your imagination and one that will reflect your own unique view of the wintry landscape.
Fee includes all materials. This is an in-person workshop limited to only 5 participants which means you get lots of one-on-one help.
