Let’s Talk Tarot! Visioning the Year Ahead

It’s all in the cards … map your year ahead in this fun and easy exploration of the symbolic world of Tarot

TIME:  10:00 am to 1:30 pm (approximately 3.5 hours)
LOCATION:  Studio #206 on the upper level of The Alton Mill Arts Centre
FEE:  $125 + HST per person

Tarot is a system of 78 pictorial cards that have been used for centuries to tell stories and help people interpret and narrate their lives.

In this workshop we will start with a brief discussion of the history and origins of the Tarot, delve into its major symbolism, and learn some easy methods for deciphering the cards that don’t require memorization or special knowledge. The session concludes with doing your own reading to map out trends and themes for the new year ahead.

Whether you are simply drawn to the artistic beauty of these mysterious cards or the psychological aspects of storytelling and symbolism, this workshop will provide a fun and accessible entry point into the world of Tarot.

In this workshop we will cover:

• The difference between Tarot and Oracle cards
• How and why the cards work (both the logical and the mysterious!)
• Some of the ethics and misconceptions surrounding the cards
• The overarching “tales” or stories that gives structure and meaning to a Tarot deck
• Fun ways to work with the different sections of a Tarot deck

We will also engage in:

• Several self-discovery exercises and readings to reveal your own unique Tarot stories
• Creating a 12 month “map” of major themes to expect in your personal life during 2027

This workshop is perfect for curious beginners as well as those who have some experience with the cards. I will have a variety of decks on hand to use but you are encouraged to bring your own deck(s) so that you can continue working and learning after the class. Just make sure the deck you bring is a Tarot deck and not an oracle deck. The clue is in the number of cards (78) and it will say it is a “Tarot deck” on the packaging. I have been studying and reading Tarot for over 35 years and invite you to come see for yourself the magic and mystery of this powerful tool for self-reflection, validation, clarity, and transformation. No prior tarot knowledge is necessary. The only goal is to simply learn, discover and play!

CANCELLATION POLICY. Please note that all workshops are non-refundable if you are a no-show, cancel or change your mind at the last minute. A raincheck for another workshop may be offered if there are extenuating circumstances that prevent you from attending but this will be solely at the discretion of the instructor. In the event a class needs to be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen reasons it will be rescheduled or fully refunded.
